The freeSwinomish web site has been designed to bring to the general public a unique resource for learning about the Swinomish Indians, their reservation, and in so doing, hopefully a little about what reservation life in the United States is really all about. As a relatively small tribe, scholars have paid very little attention to the Swinomish. When mentioned at all, the Swinomish generally garner a few paragraphs and a photo or two. This site seeks to change that. We have already gathered together a fair amount of information, and as the site grows obviously the volume of information will grow too. Check back regularly for updates. Individual tribal members, none of whom are officials of the Swinomish government, bring this site to you. Therefor, this site is not an "official" tribal site. Perhaps we should all take a moment and thank the creator for this! Any opinions or conclusions expressed reflect solely those held by persons who have contributed information and helped to put this site together. As with any group of human beings, opinions on any given subject differ from person to person. Native Americans are no different in this regard. |
