Election Protest Goes Before
The Tribal Court
Date: June 19, 2000
Place: Swinomish Tribal Court
Lorraine (Wilbur) Loomis, having exhausted her options with failed
protests before the Tribal Election Board, and the Tribal Senate, is now
preparing to take the final step in her bid to undue the 2000 election.
On June 19th her case comes before the Swinomish Tribal Court. Details
are few, but she is apparently planning on charging Tribal Chairman Brian
Cladoosby (her victorious opponent in the election) and Senator Sophie
Bailey (Senate selected fill in for the seat won by Jimi Sam Williams)
with election fraud.
We encourage all interested parties to attend. Given that Ms.
Loomis sought to limit access to her protest before the Election Board
freeSwinomish expects she will try the same thing before the Tribal Court.
DO NOT LET THAT HAPPEN! Tribal Court is an open forum, and if she has a
case strong enough to overturn the clear will of the people as expressed
in their vote, then the people have a right to hear her case directly. |
