Monday September 23rd, 2002 marks the third Annual Native
American Day Celebration held jointly by the Swinomish Tribal
Community, and the Town of LaConner. The event is free to attend,
and includes many activities, such as canoe racing, stick games,
native arts and crafts sales and exhibits, and other fun and
informative activities.

This year, the celebration is spread throughout the weekend
with events scheduled below:

Friday September 20th

Community Dinner @ 6 PM in Swinomish Gym
Selection of First Annual Swinomish Royalty
9 PM Open Stickgame Tournament

Saturday September 21st

SneeOosh Beach @ 12 PM
Registration for Canoe Races and Stick Game Tournament
Canoe Racing begin @ 1 PM
*** 3 PM Stick Game Registration Closes
Swinomish Gym @ 4 PM Stickgame Tournament

NOTE: Stick Game Entry Fees-
Adults: $125.00 for 4 to 6 player team
14 & Under: $50.00 for 4 to 6 person team

Sunday September 22nd

Canoe Races begin @ 1 PM
Kids Stickgame Tournament @ 2 PM
Event locations same as Saturday

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 23rd

Events take place at LaConner Town Hall
Welcome Prayer @ 11 AM
Salmon Barbecue ($5.00/plate) @ 12 PM
Play @ 2 PM
Town vs. Tribe Canoe Race @ 3 PM
Canoe Parade @ 4 PM

The joint Swinomish/LaConner Native American Day Celebration is
a family and community oriented event great for all ages. Parking is
always a premium in LaConner, so if you plan to attend, get there early! .
